Toward that common goal, this department acts as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide the highest possible quality of patient care within the available resources and services.
The Department of Nursing believes that each patient is an individual, a member of a family and a member of the community, that requires varying amounts of physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual support regardless of race, color, creed, national origin or economic status. Comprehensive individualized nursing care is provided via established standards of nursing practice and is the primary responsibility of the Department of Nursing.
The patient is the most important person in the hospital and nurses are one of the most important resources.
Nursing exists to provide individualized care to patients and their families in aiding their cure, providing comfort and support in their death, advocating their needs, and to assist in improving the standards of health care and the promotion of optimal wellness through education. Individualized educational plans for patient / family education assist the maintenance of and return to the optimal level of wellness attainable by the patient.
